This method encourages you to think more analytically and draw on knowledge from human physiology in your performance. It challenges readers to think beyond just playing the music written on the page.
A performer who uses the Delta Method will immediately feel the result from the audience.
Scientist and inventor of two medicines, Dr. Ueno has discovered a natural law of performing which utilizes an understanding of human physiology.

Why Delta? — Humans are wired to notice changes. As a result, the human brain detects Delta. Human sensory organs detect even the subtlest of changes in any sensible elements.
For instance, there are no absolute dynamics in music, although human ears detect changes in volume or intensity in the sound to feel the relative forte or piano dynamics.
From the audience's point of view, the biological reaction called "adaptation" occurs when there is no stimulation that feeds the listeners' interest. When a performer does not vary his dynamics, rhythm, pitch, or color, it could easily cause the audience to lose interest.
"Delta" is a common concept in mathematics, and it generally shows a change in some quantity. However, when we refer to "Delta" we are not only using the concept of change. Instead, we are focusing on the rate of change within a specified quantity. This is similar to the second derivative in calculus.
Δ(Delta) = f '(x) = Slope of the tangent =
Human nerves can be stimulated when changes occur in any detectable element.
Why are some performances so captivating?
Why are some performers so popular? Is it because of talent?
Why do some performances put audiences to sleep even when the performance seems perfect?
If you have ever considered these questions, here is a glimpse of the answers. This knowledge is powerful, and we hope that performers who come across this knowledge can combine it with previous knowledge to truly unlock their performing potential.
The Delta Method is based on human physiology. The part of our brain that comprehends music is closely related to the brain's memory center. Each audience member has different memories, so the challenge as a performer is to enhance the memories of each unique listener. The use of the Delta Method is intended to stimulate the listeners, even if they are not professional musicians. The way to trigger that unconscious memory is by constructing your music using the Delta Method.
A performer who uses the Delta Method will immediately feel the result from the audience.
The Delta Method can also help an audience discover new ways to listen to a performance. Although the method is originally intended for performers, it can be used by listeners to guide them in getting
the most out of listening to a piece of music. In addition to live concerts, anyone can listen to a favorite recording again and, using the Delta Method, find out why a particular performance or performer has excited his neurophysiology.
